Technician Commitment awards

I am a Chartered Scientist (CSci), and a Chartered Biologist (CBiol), circa 2017.

By virtue of this work, I was elected a Fellow of the IST (FIScT) in 2017; a Finalist for the Papin prize, cf. "Outreach & Community work", HETS 2021; a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB) in 2022; Winner of the Citizens award for “Technician of the year” at the University of Leicester, 2022; and have been shortlisted for a Lab innovations award (2023/24), cf. “Commitment to Skills and training” in two consecutive years. See my detailed awards page on my adjunct weebly website.

In 2024, I won the "Outstanding (Lifetime) achievement" prize from Lab Innovations, which is given to an individual of "Extra ordinary" calibre, who has made a significant impact within their chosen field.

In November of 2024, I was elected to the advisory board of Lab Innovations and in that same month co-authored a report to Government in association with Advanced Engineering: My vignette was entitled, "Upskilling a Nation".

Certificates of achievement

I am proud to showcase my certificates of achievement, which reflect my dedication and contributions to the field of science and technical education. These accolades highlight my commitment to excellence and my continuous efforts to advance professional standards.

Vocational Accreditation

The certificates below certify elected Fellowship with the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB), circa 2022 and my initial Chartered Scientist (CSci)  award with the Institute of Science & Technology (IST), circa 2017.

Elected Fellowshipwas based on "Distinguished conduct" within the Technician Commitment arena and in particular national mentoring for Science Council Professional Registration; and concomitant support for the analogous award of Chartered Biologist (CBiol). It also reflects publications about the wider technician commitment and designing courses and learning aides therein; in my case provided for the Science Council, IST, NTDC and RSB.

My initial Chartered Scientists award (CSci) with the IST was given based on 5+ years practicing as a level #7 post graduate after University.

Vocational Accreditation

The certificates below certify my Chartered Scientist (CSci)  award with the Royal Society of Biology (RSB), circa 2022, and my Chartered Biology award (CBiol) with the RSB, circa 2018.

My Chartered Scientists award (CSci) with the RSB was given based on 5+ years practicing as a level #7 post graduate after University and was a transfer from IST.   The award of Chartered Biologist is analogous to CSci in terms of qualifying pre requisites but is awarded exclusively by the RSB for post graduate practice specifically in the life sciences sector.

Citizens Award University of Leicester

In 2022 I was given a Citizens award at the University of Leicester for being judged the "Outstanding Technician" of the year.

This was predicated on my ongoing Technician Commitment work and, at that juncture, my recent award of elected Fellowship with the RSB (FRSB).

Papin Prize

In 2022 I was shortlisted for a Papin prize for "Outreach & Training"

Lab Innovations Prize 2024 for "Outstanding Achievement"

In 2024, I was the recipient of the "Outstanding Achievement" (Life stime Achievement award) prize for technical services to Science in General and my work pertaining to the Technician Commitment and Professional Registration in particular. This prize also took into consideration my mentoring work with the RSB for the vocational award of Chartered Biologist

Royal Society of Biology Fellowship (FRSB), circa 2022

In 2022 I was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB) for distinctive work over a period of 8 years (circa 2017-2025) pertaining to supporting the Technician Commitment and in particular supporting and mentoring candidates for Science Council Professional Registration and, in addition, concomitant work pertaining to the vocational award of Chartered Biologist (CBiol)

Publicity from the NTDC

My Fellowship with the RSB culminated in promotional material from the NTDC. In part this can be attributed to my role within the NTDC as Specialist Advisor for Professional Registration within STEM and the fact that some of this recognition was based on eponymous registration duties for the NTDC.

Publicity from Leicester University

My Fellowship with the RSB was likewise celebrated in house at the University of Leicester and culminated later that year (2022) in me winning the Citizens Award for "Technician of the year" circa 2022.

See above for details.
